ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT CULTURAL/LITERARY EVENTS IN SAN DIEGO IS THE WRITERS SYMPOSIUM BY-THE-SEA, SPONSORED BY POINT LOMA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY (PLNU).
From its beginning, The City Club of San Diego has been a part of the Symposium, having assisted in providing some of its most famous writers, but the Symposium is really the genius of Dean Nelson, a member of PLNU’s journalism’s faculty and the Symposium’s creator.
That said, this year’s Symposium, with perhaps its greatest gathering ever of famous writers and personalities, begins one week from today — Monday, February 19.

I’m excited to hear Kareem Abdul-Jabber, and to renew acquaintances with Jane Smiley, who has been a past guest of the City Club.
It will be an unforgettable week on campus at PLNU.
